Bangladesh to face Ireland today
The tri-series is being played in a league format — there will be no final and the team with the most points will be crowned champions.
After sharing the points in the Walton Tri-Nation Series opener, Bangladesh again will play host Ireland at Malahide, Dublin Today.
Both, Bangladesh and Ireland must look forward to their maiden win in the series when they will take each other at 3:45pm (Bangladesh time), reports UNB.
The weather in Dublin will not be the only thing that is gloomy as both teams facing off in Malahide, Dublin today have not had the best of times in the tri-series so far. Bangladesh and Ireland are both winless after each having played two games — the first one was the rain-abandoned opener last Friday which they contested against each other, before each losing to New Zealand, who sit pretty on top of the table with an all-win record. But when the match gets underway today at 3:45pm (Bangladesh time), it will likely be Bangladesh who will be more desperate to win as the Test side in the contest.
The weather is likely to be bad as rain is forecast in the early afternoon in Dublin.
Bangladesh are likely to retain much of the side that lost Wednesday’s match against New Zealand by 15 runs. The Tigers should be eager to correct the batting errors that saw them lose steam at the end of their innings against New Zealand. They are also the side that would have felt more unfortunate for rain ruining the opener and stopping a recovery effort engineered by Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad. By virtue of a net run rate superior to Ireland’s, Bangladesh are in second place in the table.
The Tigers are in the 2nd slot by virtue of more run rate while Ireland side running in the bottom, both side remained winless playing out two matches each.
Bangladesh conceded a four-wicket defeat against the topper New Zealand in their 2nd match on Wednesday. New Zealand started their campaign with a 51-run win against Ireland on May 14.
If, Bangladesh could manage wins in the next two matches and New Zealand loss the both, there will be a chance for the Tigers to clinch the series.
