Google CEO Finally Managed To Get Android To Change Its Burger Emoji
Exactly a month ago, a disgruntled Twitter user complained about the subtle differences in the burger emoji on Android and iOS keyboards. Responding to him, Google CEO Sundar Pichai famously proclaimed he would “drop everything else we are doing and address this on Monday” and find a solution.
Looks like Sundar Pichai is a man of his word, after all. Kudos to him for settling one of the most bizarre arguments you’d ever encounter.
In the upcoming Android 8.1 Oreo update, Google’s burger emoji will sport cheese on top of the patty — which burger connoisseurs argue is the best combination for a cheesy, melt in the mouth, juicy burger to bite into.
Legend has it that this new Android 8.1 burger emoji has the exact same cheese-on-patty combination as the burgers served inside the canteen at Google’s headquarters.
Not just that, Sundar Pichai’s intervention (or is it course correction?) has inadvertently ensured that Android 8.1’s burger emoji will now resemble Apple’s iOS burger emoji and Microsoft’s keyboard burger emoji.
Coincidence? We’ll let you decide.
