The incumbent Awami League government has embarked on a series of initiatives to promote technology in Bangladesh. Over the past four years, a number of new developments have seen the light of day. As the New Year rolls on, 2018 looks to provide even more additions to the burgeoning ICT sector. ICT Division has listed a number of ongoing projects in 2018.
In addition, the government has the following projects lined up to be delivered: Technology Lab & Software Finishing School, Modernization of Rural & Urban Lives, Smart City Integrated e-Government, VLSI lab at universities, National Security Centre & Forensic Lab, IT Park for employment, Digital Connectivity, National Cyber Security Agency, Virtual University of Multimedia & Innovation.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak told the Bangla Tribune the government is relentlessly working to realize Vision 2021 in order to eradicate poverty within 2030 and make Bangladesh a developed country within 2041.
He said the ICT sector has a crucial role to play in the overall development in the country, and its active and realized projects are a testament to it.
“I believe that as we advance more and more, Bangladesh will move away from a labour-based economy to a knowledge-based economy”
